Façades — done honestly
The Costa Blanca is beautiful — but for façades it's hard labour. Sun, salty air and wind mean that cracks, flaking render and faded paint are part of everyday life here. In coastal towns such as Torrevieja, Guardamar or Santa Pola you can see it on almost every other house wall.
The good news: done properly, a façade will last many years here. The difference almost never lies in the paint itself, but in the preparation — opening up and closing cracks correctly, tackling damp at its source, preparing the substrate properly and using materials made for the coastal climate.
Below you can see a real example: a cracked, damp wall — repaired, re-rendered, painted and with a clean finish up to the roof edge. Done properly once, instead of again every year.

My façade has cracks — is a fresh coat of paint enough?
Honestly: usually not. If it's just painted over, the crack comes back — often after a single summer. I open up and close cracks properly, prepare the surface and then paint. That lasts.
How often do you need to repaint on the coast?
With proper preparation and good materials, far less often than many people think. The sun and salty air between Santa Pola and Torrevieja are harsh — but the difference almost always lies in the preparation and the quality of the materials, not in the paint itself.
Is external wall insulation even worth it in Spain?
More often than you might think — not only against the cold in winter, but above all against the heat in summer. Whether it is worth it for your property is something I will tell you after an honest look at the house — including if it is not worth it.
Do you do interiors as well?
Yes — interior walls and ceilings are just as much part of it as the façade. Especially after alterations or before letting a property, a fresh, cleanly applied coat of paint is the quickest way to a well-kept impression.
